Fang Beisong, Director of Jingzhou Municipal Center of Cultural Relics Protection, once expressed that, the latest research showed that the earliest Chinese people appeared 2.12 million years ago, which basically confirms with that of Homo erectus. The discovery of bamboo-bowin Kuahu Bridge in Zhejiang Province advances the history of Chinese lacquer-artto 8,000 years ago. The bamboo-bow of Kuahu Bridge is so delicate that we have reasons to infer that lacquer-art had already had before it. Chinese lacquer ware might be produced ten thousand years ago. After established in Danyang, ancient Chu developed the lacquer-art to form exquisitely patterned and unique Chu-style lacquer-art. The developed Chu culture can even compete with the Western Greek culture. And Jingzhou region can be called as Athens in the orient.

Someone once said that, Jingzhou’s lacquer art is the treasure of the world. It was known by reporter yesterday that, Jingchu Lacquer-art Town has already settled in Shuangdang Village, Mashan Town, Jingzhou District and its planning has already completed. Now, there location contract has already been signed. The current project plans to cover an area of 1,500 mu.

According the planning, Jingchu Lacquer-art Town with an overall building area of 127.51 square meters mainly includes tourist reception area of 49, 931㎡, lacquer-art demonstration area of 54,912 ㎡, lacquer-art exhibition area of 16,641 ㎡, lacquer-art research area of 33,216 ㎡, popular science demonstration area of 20,211 ㎡, Ganlan building area of 29,087 ㎡, expert creation area of 30,998 ㎡, and lacquer-tree breeding and cultivation area of64,424 ㎡.
